Mammogram number 1

5th April 2022

I'll be honest, it was not the most pleasant of experiences, with my tiny boobs they have to really squeeze them in there!

The mammogram is not too painful but more uncomfortable, cold & awkward. But it is over within a matter of minutes.

Another one ticked off. Onto the next…

Breast MRI scan day.

15th April 2022

Whilst the scan itself is painless, it takes a while and it's pretty uncomfortable. A spaceship tunnel looking machine that dominates the whole room. As your positioned laying on your front, think massage table but with 3 holes - one for your head and 2 for your boobs.

Wearing another sexy open front gown with a co-ordinating dressing gown, it's not a glamorous look. A cannula is then put into your arm. (This will later be used to insert dye into your body. Luckily someone pre-warned me as it passes through you'll feel a strange trickling sensation as you've wet yourself- do not panic!)

Making sure you're in position before sending you through the giant tube, headphones are put on and Smooth Radio begins to play. Not that you can really hear it with the muffled noise. And then it starts, and nothing can prepare you for how loud this machine is going to be. Imagine being in a building site with someone drilling concrete right besides your head or a ferry foghorn sailing into port every few minutes!

It's easy to lose all track of time whilst it's taking multiple scans, until approx 30 minutes is up and it's all finished.

At least that’s another one ticked off.

One step closer to a treatment plan?
